Lou Malnati's crustless pizza

Lou Malnati's crustless pizza

Just wanted to say, I went to Chicago two weeks ago so I could try out Lou Malnati's famous sausage-crusted pizza. Okay, that wasn't the only reason I flew to Chicago, but it was top on my list of things to do there.

My fiancee and I split a small pizza, and that was enough. It wasn't exactly what I imagined it would be like. The sausage crust was very thin, and there really was nothing added to the sausage it to make it seem more like a "crust." It was very sloppy. But not incredibly greasy. We had mushrooms, black olives, and red peppers, I believe. It good, don't get me wrong, but I'm not gonna start making sausage-crusted pizzas at my house anytime soon. It was a perfect local novelty.

Novelty? I live in the Chicagoland area. Just about all the pizzas I eat look like that. :D

Jason, I know you'd kill me, but we've been in Chicago for six years now and we've never eaten Lou Malnati's.
We're stuck on Giordano's. :D

Giordano's makes a good stuffed crust pie, and I wouldn't hold it against a person as a preference. I guess it depends where you live, I happen to work next to a Lou Malnati's for awhile, so I ate their a lot. Some people are old school, but I like a pizza where after one slice you feel like you're going to burst at the seams. Nothing like picking up a pie and living off it (breakfast, lunch and dinner) for three quarters of the week. :D
